| | 3/23/05 - Stone Poetry at Leaf & Bean April 9, 2005 | Bozeman-based original folk-rock band, Stone Poetry, will perform their
enticing brand of “history rock” at the Leaf and Bean Saturday night,
April 9th, from 8:00 to 10:00 p.m. The show includes vivid
imagery to enhance several of the songs. The band recently
released their new CD, Into the Great Unknown, with a well-received
concert and multimedia show at the Museum of the Rockies. Scott
Prinzig says, in his review of the CD in the January 2005 Lively Times
Montana Arts and Entertainment Monthly section, “the years of
experience shows in the musicianship on this album and is highlighted
by the crisp and clean engineering of Gil Stober of Bozeman's Peak
Recording and Sound.”
The liner notes for Stone Poetry include several paragraphs of praise
and prose by Bozeman journalist Todd Wilkinson, who describes the
band's music as a mix of “dynamic and progressive rock 'n roll with
influences of classical, bluegrass and Latin rhythms.”
Whether or not you agree with Wilkinson's claim that Stone Poetry
“delivers far greater listening pleasure on cross-country road trips
than any book on tape written by a Pulitzer-prize author,” it is worth
trying the comparison on your next drive across the Treasure State.
The band consists of singer/songwriter/guitarist Daniel Smith,
singer/percussionist Kate Regan Ciari, guitarist Dan Krza, bassist
Kevin Loustanau, and percussionist Mark Sullivan. Kevin Loustanau
plugged in and started pickin' bass lines for Stone Poetry fulltime in
February of 2005. Bringing a nice tone and a tight sound, Kevin
is a welcome addition to the band. For more information on Stone
Poetry, visit their website at www.stonepoetry.com, or call Susan at
